The Central SW Durham Plant and Seed Library is hosting two FREE Native Seed Planting Workshops. All materials and resources have been generously provided by Leaf & Limb, Rachel's Native Plants, Country Farm and Home, and the North Carolina Botanical Garden.
You will learn:
---> the benefits (and ease) of growing natives in your yard and shared spaces
---> a method to germinate native seeds outside over the winter
---> resources on how to germinate native seeds in your refrigerator
---> how (and when) to transplant and care for your native plants
What you can bring:
You don't need to bring anything - all will be provided. However, if you have your own growing containers/flats, you may bring those with you!
Everyone in attendance will leave with:
---> a selection of planted native seeds to overwinter in their backyard
---> resources to care for their native seeds
In the event the weather is too cold and/or wet, we have an indoors space where we will be able to hold our workshop.
Kids are welcome. There is plenty of potting and seeding that they can help with, and there is a community garden for them to explore.
