Raleigh Tree of the Year Contest
City of Raleigh Tree of the Year Contest
Vote for your favorite tree in Raleigh at this link: https://raleighnc.gov/parks-and-recreation/news/nominate-tree-raleighs-2025-tree-year, now through April 23 at 5:00 PM.
The tree of the year will be formally announced at the Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration 2025!
Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration
We Plant it Forward is proud to host this year’s Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration in partnership with the City of Raleigh!
This fun-filled annual festival is a call to celebrate trees and create a sense of community purpose toward the preservation and restoration of the natural environment.
Join us for family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food trucks, a movie in the park, and so much more! This is also a great chance to get involved, with plenty of ways to volunteer, including group volunteer opportunities for schools and businesses!
Monthly Volunteer Meeting
Monthly volunteer meetings (usually virtual) occur on the first Monday of every month. Hear firsthand what opportunities are available and connect with other WPiF volunteers. To join, click here to sign up.
Rain Barrel Workshop - Lake Crabtree Park
Registration Now Open
Build your own rain barrel! Participants in this workshop will take home a fully functional 55-gallon rain barrel with installation kit.
Workshop space is limited, so reserve your spot now. One registration per barrel. Cost is $55 per barrel, and participation is limited to two people per barrel. Preregistration is required: Click here to register on the Lake Crabtree County park program registration page.
The workshop will be held at the park’s Maintenance Facility Yard.

At the Tree Seedling Prep, volunteers prepare tree seedlings, help pack the truck, and prepare educational material for an upcoming tree giveaway! We will also pot tree seedling for storage in our holding nursery.
