Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration
2023 Highlights
Despite the rain, over 850 people came out to Chavis Park and celebrated trees and the natural environment, taking home 1,174 native tree seedlings!
Live demonstrations
The festival was packed with meaningful moments and memorable experiences, from inspiring speakers and live demonstrations, to interactive walks and creative performances, each featured event brought the community together to celebrate trees and protect the natural environment.
Tree Planting
We Plant it Forward hosted a hands-on tree planting demonstration, showing festival attendees exactly how to plant and care for trees to help them thrive for years to come.
Rain Barrel Demonstration
We Plant it Forward delivered a live DIY rain barrel demonstration, teaching step-by-step how to build one from scratch and start conserving water at home.
Walk With an Arborist
Festival attendees walked with Chavis Park, an ISA Certified Arborist/Treecologist from Leaf & Limb for an interactive learning opportunity on the basics of soil health, mulching, structural pruning, pest management, and more.
Is Your House Ready for Solar?
Southern Energy Management helped festival attendees learn how to interpret their roof orientation and potential shading interference when considering adding solar power to their homes.
